About

FLUFFFF is a design and research studio exploring the intersections of human-derived architecture and our non-human counterparts.

The name “fluff” pulls from a rich tradition of women’s work and craft that was designed out during western modernism - deemed un-autonomous and therefore superfluous and no longer valid. We honor the entangled nature of craft and being, embracing our fellow (fluffy and not-fluffy) non-human models of symbiogenesis, and strive for a more collaborative, inclusive design practice.

We believe that architecture is political, impacting all. Through design we advocate, care, and reframe perceptions via different representational techniques and multimedia collaborations.

We are interested in addressing questions of all scales, from the micro — building from the smallest element like the bacteria within us — to the macro — the all-encompassing global systems and processes. Our ongoing work includes exhibition, dwelling and clinic design, as well as research through mapping, weaving, tufting, mess-making, filming.
